3 hours: Detailed walking tour through Karlín district as an important example of urbanistic development
Karlín's history is almost as long as the history of the city of Prague. From a large baroque dormitory for war veterans to little textile manufactures, the first municipal gasworks, own haven and several railways, Karlín became the very first suburb of Prague. It evolved from a very industrial area just behind Prague's fortification to a hip neighborhood after the devastating floods in 2002. With a lot of trendy cafés, preserved art nouveau buildings and vibrant modern architecture, Karlín is a great example of urbanistic development. Old pictures, photos and maps of the district will be presented during the tour.
